Said Abdullahi Mohamed Dani, who won the presidential election in Puntland, has been sworn as the President of Puntland state for the next five years. Dani completed his primary education in Mogadishu on July 80 and joined Hassan Barsane for high school education between 1980 and 84. After graduating 1990 with a degree from Somali National University, Said went on to undertake Masters degree studies at Putra University Malaysia between 1998 and 2000, specializing in management.
On 17 January 2014, Mohamed was named Somalia’s Minister of Planning by Prime Minister Abdiweli Sheikh Ahmed, succeeding Mohamud Hassan Suleiman. In September 2014, his ministry published preliminary population census figures for Somalia, which marked as the first such governmental initiative in over two decades. Dani was one of the founders of the Puntland state and also worked in the Post and Telecommunication Ministry and in many other significant positions in Puntland state. Dani is also a businessman and prominent politician in Somalia.
