The Somali government has called upon its counterparts in the Arab league to back its debt relief efforts. Speaking during the 30th annual summit of the Arab league in Tunisia, Somali Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad, urged members to ease his country’s debt relief process by fulfilling pledges made during the last gathering. “I call upon our Arab brothers to implement the agreements made in the previous meeting that concern Somalia debt relief, supporting Somali budget and reconstruction,” said the minister.
Ambassador Awad similarly reminded the Arab leaders about the promise made by 22 members state, in respecting the unity and sovereignty of Somalia during last year forum held in Dhahran, Saudi Arabia. “I urge the respected members to fulfil the outcome of the last summit on the supporting the unity and sovereignty of the Federal Republic and the rebuilding of various government institutions.”
He said Golan Heights is an occupied Syrian Arab Republic land by Israel while underling Mogadishu’s unshakable support for independent Palestinian state. Somali Foreign Minister, Ambassador Ahmed Isse Awad condemned the growing Islamophobic and racist attacks across the globe, while praising the response by the New Zealand government after Christchurch mosques attack.
