The leader of Hirshabelle regional state, Mohamed Abdi Waare has called for the immediate investigation following the murder of eight health workers by unknown assailants in Galoley in Balad district, Middle Shabelle region on Thursday. The state leader, who held a high-level meeting with regional officials appointed the Minister for Interior, Security, Justice, State Affairs as well as the regional parliamentary members from the affected district and the governor of the Middle Shabelle region, asked them to submit the report of their investigation within the next 30 days. Waare cautioned against speculations regarding those responsible for the barbaric attack. “I share the sorrow with the families of the victims, let us not speculate the perpetrators of the heinous act, there must be a transparent investigation,” Waare said.
Meanwhile, the residents of Balad district held a peaceful demonstration in support of the health workers killed in the area. The protesters chanted slogans against the perpetrators of the heinous act saying they will not tolerate such brutal action. They called upon the federal government authorities to immediately investigate by bringing those responsible to justice.
