Govt Delivers Medical Supplies To Barawe

The federal government delivered key medical supplies including COVID-19 test kits to the coastal town of Barawe in the Lower Shabelle region following Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire’s directive to the National COVID-19 committee to respond to the health needs in Barawe.

The town reportedly registered several suspected COVID-19 cases, and the delivered medical supplies will now enable the area newly trained medical personnel to take samples which would then be sent to Mogadishu for screening. A delegation from the Prime Minister’s office made the delivery of the supplies, accompanied by doctors.

They also toured the area hospital and a centre designated to deal with COVID-19 cases. The doctors tested 14 suspected cases for the virus and provided quick training to the area medical practitioners on ways to take the samples. The area administration thanked the federal government for the essential medical supplies delivered to the town and asked for the continuance of support to the town to overcome the threat of the virus in the town.
