The President of Hirshabelle state, Mohamed Abdi Ware has pardoned prisoners as a result of Eid ul-Fitr festivities. The names of ten inmates were published in a letter by the office of the regional leader. According to the state leader, the pardoned prisoners who will be released were serving jail terms over minor cases. President Warre directed the justice minister to implement the directive immediately. It is traditional across the country to pardon and release prisoners during Islamic festive seasons like Eid. A similar move was conducted by the leaders of Somaliland, Puntland and Southwest states during and after the holy month of the Ramadan.
