Hirshabelle state officials suspended for violating COVID 19 measures

The leader of Hirshabelle state of Somalia has on Tuesday suspended the state minister for constitution as well as the chair of the regional court of appeal.

A letter from President Mohamed Abdi Warre office copied to Interior, Justice and the regional court has confirmed relieving of duties from Minister Sadaq Mukhtar Abdulle and Judge Ali Abdulle Nur for violating COVID 19 prevention measures by allowing the gathering of people.

The two are said to have organized a public event to welcome cultural leader in Jowhar defying the directive of restricted social gatherings to curb the spread of COVID 1

On the other hand, The speaker of Hirshabelle regional assembly, Osman Bare Mohamud has turned down the decision by President Ware.

Speaker Barre described the decision as unconstitutional and misuse of power.

“There should be no changes, appointment, sacking or suspension of officials of the regional state from 21st April since we are in transitional period and in preparation of elections” A letter from Speaker Osman Bare said.

Some political analysts in the region indicate that the letter by speaker reveals disagreement between the top leaders of the state that was undercover for some time
