The Federal Government of Somalia has commented on yesterday’s deadly skirmishes in the outskirts of Beledweyne that left two senior police commanders dead. The government said it will form a commission to immediately start investigations into the incident and whoever was involved in it.
Following the establishment of the committee, the committee members will travel to Beledweyne to launch investigations into the incident, according to the federal deputy security minister Abdinasir Said Muse, who offered condolences to the families of the slain commanders. Muse called on the security forces to avoid taking part in any activities that could undermine security and harm the public.
Meanwhile, the administration of Hirshabelle State on Tuesday ordered the arrest of the former sacked governor of Hiiraan region, Yusuf Ahmed Hagar Dabaged, whom it accused of orchestrating the tensions that transformed into clashes between militia loyal to him and Hirshabelle security forces. The regional police commander, Major Mohamed Maow Halane and his deputy were killed in the incident
