Somalia Pre consultation global disability submit conference 2022
Highly organized two days consultation meeting is lunched in Mogadishu today by the Somali disability people organization with logistical support the save children and technical facilitation and host of the Somali federal government ministry of the women and the human rights development. The participants two day meeting will conform the representatives from the Somali disability , civil society, international donors and federal government of Somalia.
The two days pre consultation meeting will be led by the Somali Disability Network one of the largest DPOs network actively operational in the country. The meeting will have agenda to map out the need and the problems from disability and the solutions the problems. The meetings will two days which separate activities.
Day one the meeting will be introduction, panel discussion and questions and answers for the situation of the disability people in Somalia. The chairperson Somali disability network Mr. Abdullahi Hussein Osman made welcome of the participants with brief explanations of the disability people and their organization and the advantage the global disability submit commence 2022
and the ministry of the women and human rights Mrs. Hanifa Mohamed Ibrahim made remarkable speech in the meeting.
That she is very broad to work with disability people who have talented people with good effort that made changes the situations of the disability. As minster w have done a lot in the past for the CRPD, national disability and the disability act in draft now. All these are effort to empower the PWDs. We also have close cooperation with DPOs operating in the country
we all welcome the pre consultation submit for the global disability conference which we role and responsibilities to fill in as government. We made progress in the Global disability submit London 2018 commitment. And we have the commitment to make good commitment for the disability people. In the tow days we can draft call to action that will help million people with disabilities in Somalia.
The chairperson of the National Disability Agency committee Mr. Mohamed Jama talked the CRPD in brief and the overall situation of the PWds in Somalia. And recommended Somalia and international community commitment for the support of the disability who have no even census and strategic plan. So far we finished preparation for the draft report the disability people need assessment.
The panelist discussion six key thematic areas of problems facing the disability people in Somalia. Education barriers, healthcare service, social protection, employment, disasters and so on.
The panelist made deeper explanation of the issues and the participants asked question the panelists for the discussion made. The major argument focus the inclusion of the PWD social the education, health care and employment as well as the ratification of the legislations and implementations
Finally members of the participants made recommendations .
