Disability advocacy task force established in Somalia

Banadir region disability advocacy task force  has  been established today on Thursday 22 December 2022 in Mogadishu after two  days conference organized the DPOs in Mogadishu. The  participants  made deep discussions and orientations in the meeting to establish and ad hoc team working the disability rights protection in Somalia.

The members of the DPOs and PWDs working  on the ground for the human rights protection and development programs for the disability  planned  national plan for the disability people protection. The team realised building block for the  establishment of greater nationwide disability focus and unity operation in the country.

The member of the DPOs realised the establishment Banadir region  disability advocacy committee who can work the protection of the 20% of the 4 million  people estimation  to live in Mogadishu and its suburb.  An estimations of 400,000 four hundreds thousands people who have not rights, representation and role in the society.

 

The  disability advocacy task force will work the protection advocacy for the PWDs in Banadir region where there extra service for the private and public. The based of the international donors and the  base of the Somalia federal government operations headquarter villa Somalia. This is an opportunity  to start the disability people rights from the federal state government institutions.  And the Banadir  region local authority.

The disability advocacy task force election is conducted the second day of the conference where the members in the conference hall registered to vote for the candidate. The chairperson caudate was two persons voted for Mr. Dalmar and the deputy was voted for Mss. Maryan whose contestants resigned from the candidate.  The secretary and two other members were also voted.  The disability task force is official established

The team  demographic components is two from Physical, two from visual impaired and two  from hearing impairment and one from the none disabled society members.  This show free and fair election that is far from disciramntion and negleigency of particular part in the disability. Although  some segment from the PWDs still remains outside the organ we hope in the near future to included the albino and  short people   who are regarded as disability people.

The member of the disability advocacy task force took their first meeting with members of the PWDs and the Banadir region Administration directorate of the disability office .  a good communication that pave way cooperation  for the teams and the DPOs and the Banadir region administration.  The teams has prosed briefly their work plans and vision and mission for the disability rights protection.

Mr. Dalmar Adow Malin the chairperson of theBanadir region disability task force thanked to the all participants in the hall both who voted and who did not vote for him. I promise to work with you close and come up with leadership that  makes changes the situation of the PWDs in Banadir region. I will engage with PWDs and DPOs to face chalege  for the advocacy to the private and public organs.

Mss. Maryan the deputy chairperson thanked to the all people in the hall and thanked for their voted to the all who vote for her and all who did not vote for her.  I am here to make contribution the hardship for the disability who are voiceless.  I promise  best cooperation and consolation.
