Kuwait FM Hosts Somali Amb., Regional, Int’l Diplomats

Kuwaiti Foreign Minister, Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah, on Thursday received the Dean of the Diplomatic Corps and Senegalese Ambassador in Kuwait, Abdulahad Mbaki, and chiefs of regional and international diplomatic missions in Kuwait. Kuwaiti Deputy Foreign Minister, Khaled Al-Jarallah, and assistant foreign ministers attended the meeting held to greet Sheikh Dr. Ahmad Nasser Mohammad Al-Sabah on becoming Foreign Minister. At the onset of the meeting, the Minister welcomed the accredited diplomats in Kuwait as a sign of mutual willingness and interest in continuing communications. He said that Kuwait has always been eager to create a network of relationships and friendships with different world countries and peoples in line with the principles of mutual respect and respect of the states’ sovereignty and privacy and non-interference in their domestic affairs, as well as supporting various regional and international mechanisms aiming at promoting bilateral or multilateral relations.

Proceeding from these principles, Kuwait has adopted a balanced foreign policy based on peace, dialogue and belief in goals enshrined in the UN Charter just to establish the principles of international law and peace and to promote the values of tolerance and peaceful coexistence among the countries with their different cultures and religions, he said. He cited the role played by Kuwait during its non-permanent membership of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for 2018 and 2019 as a relevant clear-cut paradigm. Also, out of belief in the significance of sustainable development and human development for serving humanity across the world, Kuwait – in December 1961; only six months following its independence – created Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED) as the first ever development corporation in the Middle East, with the aim of building bridges with different world countries, he said. After 59 years of accomplishments, the KFAED has been operating in 107 countries and contributing to human and health
